ABIDE WITH ME - UPDATE 13th June 2011

So here's the thing.

The big news is the chaps and chapesses at Caffeine Nights are now hoping to have the book out for August.  It's a month or so earlier than I imagined, but brilliant nonetheless.

Work on the cover should begin over the next couple of weeks.  When I get anything I can show, I'll be putting it on the blog for any comments.  Can't wait for that, to be honest.

And I've started trying to nail down the promotion of the book by calling on some of my good friends on the online scene.

When I put the call out a little while back, the response was overwhelming.  Mr Ben Sobieck, crime writer and top, top, bloke, offered to interview me pretty much within days.  And I learned so much from that experience.  I was able to answer some questions I've been struggling with regarding the book itself, and Ben was a massive help.  You can read the full interview here

I've also taken a trip to The Slaughterhouse for a chat with the brilliant Richard Godwin.  That was quite some experience, I can tell you.  The interview is due to go live very close to the date of publication, alongside one of Richard's trademark reviews.

Other confirmed interviews include a serious, serious chat with the Mirth of Noir, Mr Paul D. Brazill, and an offer from Byker Books - of Radgepacket fame - for an interview running alongside a competition where a signed copy of ABIDE WITH ME will be the prize.  Can't wait for that one.

Guest Blogs coming up include one over at the lovely Elizabeth A. White's place, plus a review of the book; and on August 18th I am slotted in at Patti Abbott's gaff for one of her 'How I cam to write this book' wotsits.

I've also got to thank all those people who have offered to write pre-publication reviews.  Can't thank you enough, guys.  Just hope you all like it . . .  :)

There's a load of other people that have offered to help out.  Like I said, overwhelmed is an understatement.  That doesn't make any sense, does it.  But you know what I mean.

I'll try and do some sort of update on the progress towards publication of the book once a week.   Helps me keep a track on things as well, you know.

These are the things I can tell you about.  There are other potentially incredibly exciting developments afoot at the moment which, if they come off, I'll let you know as soon as I can.  If they don't, I'll keep it to meself.  Better that way, I reckon :)

Anyway, that's it for the moment.

Cheers,

Ian
